About Hiroko's Herb Garden

Hiroko’s Herb Garden is a family-run farm led by Hiroko, the owner of Akiba Farm, which is located in the green, fertile land of Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

Akiba Farm has a long history as a rice farm, spanning 17 generations. Using byproducts from rice cultivation—such as straw, rice bran, and husks—they create rich, homemade compost to nourish the soil.

Without relying on pesticides, the farm uses gentle, sustainable methods that make use of beneficial microbes and photosynthetic bacteria to grow healthy, vibrant herbs from the ground up.

They mainly grow fragrant varieties of mint, along with several other herbs. Great care is taken in the drying process to preserve the full aroma and flavor of each plant.
